UK Car Repair: Rover Streetwise/25 Alarm Issue, switch alarm, battery discharge

Question
I replaced the battery after weeks dead and when trying to start the car, the alarm went off and I cannot stop it. Have removed alarm fuse to avoid sound, but car dosn't start and still cannot switch alarm off. Coul you hel me?

put key in ignition, with battery dusconnected, key should be at ACC I think....
Then you reconnect the battery - pretty sure that will let you start it if not giomme another shout, just going out now...

Theres something about synching the key with the car, you put it in ACC posiion and sit in drivers seat for about 20 minutes, then theres a beep or engine light flashes to tell you the system, is reset/sychronised/something- have you checked the owners manual (if available), it shows what to do after battery discharge.
