UK Car Repair: astra a/c fan, radiator leaks, vauxhall astra

Question
Hi,  I've got an 02 reg Vauxhall Astra.  I got a strong burning smell today when driving.  The RAC found my radiator had a leak and thinks it could be related to a burnt out motor (the cause ofthe smell)for the fan at the front of the car which he said does the a/c.  The fan wasn't turning smoothly manually and not moving at all under power.  Do I have to replace the fan and/or motor, or can I just get a new radiator?

Thanks.

Answer
Sorry I'm confused,

The fan on the radiator is the engine cooling fan it has nothing to so with the air conditioning.

If the fan on the radiator stinks like a burnt out clutch then the motor is burnt out.

If the radiator leaks the radiator needs replacing or repair.

Depending on whether you want to waste loads of money or not I would recommend getting a whole RADIATOR+MOTOR+FAN assembly from the breakers yard. THAT is what I would do with this 9 year old car.

---- Though you're fine paying 3 times more for a new assembly... it won't work any better though.
