UK Car Repair: petrol smell, fuel filler, xjs

i have 1985 xjs v12 ther is strong smell all the time in the boot of fuel we hace checked all the hoses etc and there is no leaks its seems stronger once the car is turned off and left like the is a build up of fumes

THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE TANKS WHERE THEY SEAPED FROM A SEAM OR RIVET JOINT ON THE BACK. THE EVAPORTIVE SYSTEM IS IN THERE ALSO AND IT'S POSSIBLE IT IS LEAKING OR MALFUNCTIONING. THE VAPOUR IS SUPPOSED TO BE DRAWN INTO THE ENGINE ONCE THE CAR IS DRIVING,IF IT ISN'T IT WILL LIKELY SEAP. DRIVE THE CAR WITH THE FUEL FILLER AJAR FOR A DAY OR TWO THIS WILL HELP DECIDE WHERE THE SOURCE IS. NO SMELL IT IS THE VAPOUR SYSTEM, SMELL. IT IS A TANK/HOSE/PUMP PROBLEM.
