UK Car Repair: 2002 X-type 2.5 Gearbox Fault, battery boy, x type

Hi - I had the engine lite come on and the limp mode. I noticed it an pulled back into the garage. The next time I turned on the gearbox fault came on. I turned off. Two days later I tried to turn on and it clicks and lights turn on but the car won't turn over. I read on the web this same thing and it was a battery. Boy - those idiot lights really work if that's the problem. Should I jump it and see it that will turn over the car?

I SUGGEST YOU TRY CHARGING THE BATTERY FIRST, DO YOU HAVE A VOLTMETER? YOU NEED TO BE ABLE TO SEE IF IT ACTUALLY CHARGES AND THEN IF IT CAN HOLD THE CHARGE ONCE ON THE CAR. iT MAY JUST BE A BAD BATTERY BUT YOU NEED TO MAKE SURE.  THE PROBLEM COULD BE A DRAW FROM SOMETHING IN THE CAR!  WHEN ALL IS RECTIFIED YOU WILL NEED TO HAVE SOMEONE CLEAR THE CODES ON THE COMPUTER.
