UK Car Repair: Daewoo Nubira remote key problem, daewoo nubira, fuse box

Question
Hello William, I hope you can point me in the right direction before i spend any money on this.

I belive the Daewoo Nubira is/was sold in the US.
Model specs: 2.0l CDX year - 1999.

My remote key no longer works, the red light on the key comes on when the button is pressed, but the car dosent lock/unlock.

I have replaced the battery in the key and it had no effect.

Also I have checked the fuse for the "anti-theft" on the fuse box and that is OK.

The central locking does work when using the key in the drivers door lock.

Thanks in advance for any light you can shed on this problem.

Kind regards

Mike T

Answer
If the red light shows then the battery is good, this means that the system has somehow locked or, there is a problem with the receiver.  Try this;  with the key, lock the door and hold the key in the lock position for 10 sconds or so. Now do the same with unlock.  Try the remote, if not try again but doing it twice. Sometimes it takes a few tries and you may have to hold the key over for a longer period.  If this doesn't work you will need to go to someone with a scanner to clear and reprogramme it!
