UK Car Repair: Rover 216 cabriolet wiper fault, rover 216, mid way

My wipers were working ok, on normal speed, when i tried using the timer speed they slowly juddered up the windscreen and then stop mid way, you can see they are trying to work but they are not, Recently i lost all power in wipers, i changed the fuse and they worked as well as before, since then I've changed the motor and i still have the same fault, timer not working and the fuse keeps shorting out.  any ideas what this might be?

Do they work when they are lifted off the glass?  Why did you change the motor?  And when you say "worked as well as before" do you mean they worked OK on normal but not on timer?.  Your car has a module that controls the operation of the system. if they were working in any phase then clearly the motor is good, the problem is most likely in the control module!
