UK Car Repair: Renault Clio, renault clio, intermitently

Im having problems with my renault clio. The speedometer intermitently stops working and goes to zero and the internal blower has stopped working. The earth wire on the battery is fine and so is the fuse on the blower. Any other ideas what it could be and how i can fix it?

I don't think the faults are connected.  The speedo is driven from the transmission by a transducer, it may be bad or there is a bad connection somewhere.  As for the blower, this type of fault has to be traced manually, do you have a pos feed and a good earth at the blower, if yes the motor is bad. otherwise you have to trace the circuit back.
