thanks for your reply i havent changed the fuel filter yet but i did notice a corroded pipe coming from the tank  where it looks like some one has tried to fix it plus there is a kink in the pipe could this be the problem? there is no fuel dripping out of the pipe though thank you in advance

The kink could be a problem, it depends on how much it restricts the fuel.  Be very careful with the pipe as you don't want to break it.  better to cut the hoses than risk putting pressure on the pipe. Get the filter and new hose & clamps before you start.
