UK Car Repair: renault clio cooling fan, jumper cables, renault clio

Question
cooling fan on my x reg clio 1.2 has stopped working. I think its the sensor but i dont know where it is. I cant find it on the radiator, There are two sensors in the head i have tried cross wiring the plugs on these but the fan still wont fire up. All fuses ok, can you help?

Answer
The switch is most likely close to the thermostat in the cylinder head.  You may have found it, but you first have to make sure the fan works by connecting it directly with jumper cables.  Find the connection near the fan if it is just two wires disconnect it, you can then power it. It may turn in opposite directions depending on which way you connect it. If it has more than two wires be careful, it may be a multi speed unit, so you would have to trace the high speed circuit -find the earth wire, then the wire with the least resistance.
