UK Car Repair: Vauxhall Astra cold starting, vauxhall astra, dash lights

My 2000 Vauxhall Astra is extremely difficult to start from cold? When warm, it starts and runs no problem at all.

The cold start system clearly is'nt working, there is a sensor on the engine which controls it, check with a parts supplier to see how much it is, if reasonable, get it.  One thing first, when you go to start the car, instead of taking the key to the full start position turn it till the dash lights operate, now turn it off, try this 4 or 5 times and see if it makes a difference.
