UK Car Repair: keyhole, mg zs, key hole

hi i have an mg zs 2002 and sometimes when i put my key in the ignition and try and start the key wont turn at ll its like as it its locked i have to move the steering wheel around and after a good few minutes the key will finally turn. please help what could be wrong.

This is not unusual, it happens sometimes on power steering cars if the wheel is off centre and the key is removed.  You have to feel which way the pressure is - usually the way the wheels are facing- turn the wheel that way and it will release the automatic lock.  Spraying a little lubricant in the key hole would not hurt.
