UK Car Repair: vauxhall corsa n reg 1.2, vauxhall corsa, diaphram

Question
hi i have a 1.2 corsa and seem to have a problem with the fuel the line is clear and i can suck petrol through it,but when starting it just fires and dies,is there a fuel pump on this model or is it electric,on the front of the carburettor i can see a small housing for a diaphram would this cause the problem if it was split worn thanks dean.

Answer
Yes, there is an electric petrol pump and it is most likely in the tank. You need to establish if in fact the engine has a fuel supply, you can check by turning the engine over and holding the open line over a container. As you can suck petrol through the line it cannot be a blocked filter. How do you know the housing has a diaphram in it?
