UK Car Repair: vauxhall astra elec prob, vauxhall astra, auto electrician

Question
hello,
i have a 2000 x reg vauxhall astra 1.6 club, had it for a year with no probs what so ever, last sunday jumped in and found the radio wasnt working, its the original factory fitted one. everything else was fine drove ok, but no display on the integrated lcd screen and the red led on the radio flashing. parked it up and didnt use for 4 days and when i next got in the battery was flat? on the last day it was all fully working my 4 year old was left unattended for 10 mins in it, is it possible she has locked out the coded radio and its drained the battery somehow?
hope you can help shed some light before i throw my self to the mercy of an auto electrician.

Answer
I doubt if your child could have caused it -i'm assuming the keys were not in the car, were they?- unless she was able to simulate taking out the radio.  It is more than likely a security system problem. The security is tied into the radio which has a memory feed to it constantly. Go to a stereo shop and have them look at it.
