UK Car Repair: Difficult hot starting, series land rover, petrol engine

Question
I wonder if you might help to point me in the right direction. I have a 1969 series land rover 2.25 petrol engine which starts well when cold but if it  has been running and the engine is warm /hot will not start easily and sometimes must be left for some time. The points, condenser, plug leads, distributor cap etc have all been changed recently. I would value any tips on the next place to look for the problem.
Kind regards
David

Answer
It sounds like you may have a vapourization problem.  Usually the hardest time for an engine to start is when it is cold. As yours started fine, all of the other things were working properly, you had a good spark and sufficient fuel. Fuel vapourizes if the carb bowl or lines get too hot, this means there is no liquid fuel available at hot start, do they feel hot 10 or 15 minutes after you switch off? If nothing seems amiss, it might be worth substituting an ignition coil. A faulty Coil can sometimes produce a similiar result.
