UK Car Repair: Vauxhall Astra 1.4 merit fan belt replacement, vauxhall astra, fan belt

Hi, I'm trying to replace the fan belt on this astra, but cannot get the belt on, cannot loosen the tensioner.  Is this the thing to do, or is there another way? Cannot move any pulleys as they all seem fixed to the engine block, without any sliding ability.  I think I am fitting the belt the correct direction

Please help if possible

The tensioner is very tight and quite difficult to move.  You will need a long bar to get sufficient leverage. Someone will have to help you, they have to hold the belt already fitted the other pulleys and be ready to slip it over the tensioner when you pull it back!
