UK Car Repair: jaguar how to remove inlet manifold, jaguar xj6 series 3, screwdriver blade

Question
i have a jaguar XJ6 series 3 4.2cc 1984 I have removed the water rail and all 18 nuts on inlet manifold but it will not come off the studs any suggestions for removing it would be really helpful. Also do you know how the throttle cable comes off the linkage? PLEASE HELP !!!!

Answer
You have a problem!  The manifold is corroded to the head and can be very difficult to get off without breaking it.  All I can suggest is using a heat gun to heat the joint area then, with extreme care use thin wedges to begin the separation.  Only use the wedges( a nice screwdriver blade works well) at the thicker points! Take your time, rushing will surely break it. Does it really have to come off? The throttle cable has to be loosened at the throttle end -two nuts- then, lift up on the actuating quadrant, you will see that the cable fits into a slot with the end piece locating in a hole, there's not to much room so it is a little tricky. Good Luck
