UK Car Repair: One indicator flashes much much faster than the other!, flasher units, ford ka

Question
Hi John,
I know this isn't a major problem but I am very curious as to what might be causing it. I have an X-reg Ford Ka and the left indicator is suddenly flashing much faster than the right. I am sure this is only a recent thing and seems fairly bizarre. I wondered if you would know off the top of your head what kind of things might cause that?!
Many thanks in advance for your thoughts.
James

Answer
Fast flashers indicate that your flasher is ether on it's last legs or you have a bulb that is out or on its way out. I would replace the bulbs front and rear for the turn signals and see if the problem goes away. If the problem continues after that you might need to replace the flasher units "their are two flasher units in that car". one for blinkers and one for the hazards. Replacing both flashers and the bulbs should be a fairly cheap fix.

Get back to me if you have any problems,

regards,

John
