UK Car Repair: my right indicator sticks on when my lights are switch on, turn signal switch, citreon zx

on my Citreon zx, my right indicator stays permantly on when I have my lights on, when I turn the lights off the indicator works fine.
Any ideas what it could be?
Please help, don't want to spend again at a garage!

I believe that your lighting switch is on the stalk for the signal indicator on this car and would surmise that a new turn signal switch would fix this problem as their may be some broken pieces of plastic floating around inside the switch housing causing the left blinker to short on when the lights are on.

Another thing to check would be to replace the flasher unit "very inexpensive" and have the bulbs replaced to ensure it has the correct bulbs in it.

Try that and let me know if anything I have assumed as to the cars configuration is incorrect.
