UK Car Repair: steering wheel movement, mg midget, steering wheel

Question
The steering wheel on my 1972 mg midget moves away from the dashboard when pulled, also the horn sometimes sounds when the steering wheel is turned, how do I solve this problem.  

Answer
Take the steering wheel off and then take the steering column out. Check for play in the shaft and cracks in the tube. If you find ether, you will need another column.
It is not repairable without the factory tools.
