UK Car Repair: I have a vauxhall senator..., vauxhall senator, mechanical workings

Question
I have a vauxhall senator 3.Ol 24v K reg (1990ish)car. The problem is that when I do a journey, either short or long I have problems starting the car again straight away (the car is completely dead) and have to wait for the engine to cool down before the car will start again. Once the car is running it runs like a dream and I have no problems. Being slightly ignorant to the mechanical workings of cars I thought it best before I take the car to a garage that I get some advice from you as it could be something simple like the thermostat needs changing and I don't want to get ripped off!!!! Thankyou

Answer
Hi Colleen,
When you say the car is completely dead do you mean the engine does nothing when you turn the key?
It doesnt crank over at all? if this is the case, it sounds like may be a starter motor fault or ignition switch.
If the engine is trying to start then it could be one of several things, best take it to a garage I'd suggest.
Go to one that has been recomended to you.
