Volkswagen Repair: 2001 Jetta 1.8T Low-side Service Port, thermal expansion valve, orifice tube

Question
I am trying to find the low-side service port on my 2001 Jetta.  I don't know if I am blind or just dumb but I can not locate the low-side service port.  I have tried tracing the lines but the only port I can locate is on what I believe might be the dryer (cylindrical item about the size of small pop can) and it seem that all other systems I have charged or looked at have a port that is just in line and not on something else like that.  Also trying to locate the low-side pressure switch so I could check it.  Thanks

Answer
Hi Dave;
The high side is usually on the passenger side of the car up close to the bulkhead, and next to the high pressure switch.  Actually, I think the switch does it all, low, and high, it basically gives information to the "comfort module" that there is enough refrigerant to run the compressor.  The low side port is usually up at the radiator someplace, near the condenser, but both are usually on the passenger side of the vehicle.  It doesn't really matter which engine is in the car, they are all usually at those locations.  This system is a thermal expansion valve system, not a fixed orifice tube system...just in case you didn't already know that too.  Good luck, Dave.  Hope this helps.
