How do you change the battery in the 2003 VW keyless remote?

All VWs but Toureg. Take a very small flat head screwdriver and stick it in the little indention on the switchblade side of the remote. Pry the two piece key away from each other. Once apart then where the gasket foam on the key is pry that away and the batteries are inside.

Touregs are a one piece key. Battery is on the bottom. Take a real small flat head screw driver and remove cover at bottom half of key. Battery is inside.
