Volkswagen Repair: volkswagen beetle, switch car, time dave

Hello, Have a 2002 beetle. Electric trunk will not open with key, or interior switch. Car has no rear outside key access. Can hear solonoid type sound under dash when activated by either. Lights flash when I attempt. Checked all fuses and are OK. Gas cap cover works fine from inside switch. No sound at all from rear area. How can I open manually in case of emergency, and what is repair guess/suggestion.

David, thank you for your question.  you could have a problem with the wiring in the trunk that is associated with the alarm system.  That is something in which (unless you have a Bentley Manual) you will have to have the dealer look over.  But you can check and see if there is any water damage in the trunk first if there is then that is the probable cause of the trouble.
