Volkswagen Repair: 2002 Jetta Brakes, ecu computer, emergency brake

Question
I have a 2002 TDI Jetta that I am having brake problems with. I have new rotors and pads front and rear and the brakes appear to be sticking from time to time. It usually occurs at about 60 kph and stay on until the brake pedal is pressed hard or the emergency brake is pulled and released. It seems to be worse in the city when you use your brakes more. The dealer lubricated the slides and it has not helped. Could the ABS be building up pressure and causing the brakes to apply themselves. The car does not pull to either side and all brakes are hot and slightly smoking after extended use. No warning lights have come on and I am stumped.  Thanks Travis

Answer
Travis, thank you for your question.  From what you are describing, the problem sounds like the sensor for the ABS is not functioning properly. The ECU (computer) is probably getting a false reading from a sensor telling that you are applying the brakes when you are not.  Best to take it to the dealer and have them check the ECU and the sensors out to see if that is the case.  Also can be the ABS control unit could be failing.
Hope that helps
