Volkswagen Repair: GTI headlight tone, dead battery, jetta

After using wife's '01 GTI, recently came out the next morning to a dead battery! (Had left the headlights on.)

My '01 Jetta has an annoying warning tone whenever I mistakenly leave the lights on... I'm sure the GTI should too, but her's does not! Is this a fuse issue? I checked the fuses but all appear healthy.

PT, thank you for your question.  You are very right, all vehicles built since 1985 have the headlight alarm.  Normally, what goes bad is the alarm it self.  It can also be the fuse, too. The alarm is really nothing more than a piezo speaker.  Now the only problem is that you may have to go to the dealer to get it.  That is probably the best idea since they can also track down the problem if the speaker is not the problem.  Hope that helps
