Volkswagen Repair: ignition advance, ground wires, dust cover

i have 1 1990 mk2 16v golf with engine code kr. she has done 87000 miles and has been well serviced from new.

my problem is i only have 20% ignition advance,i have done the ecu the switch on top of the ecu and the warmup valve/regulator. all the plugs, leads, coil and dizzy have been checked, but still no luck.
she idiles ok but the moment you go to pull off she goes flat.

Remove the dust cover under the rotor, in the distributor, and check the wires from the hull generator.  If they're weak or broken they will disconnect when you rev the engine.  
Also check the ground wires at the cylinder head, they have a habit of breaking and the open circuit will cause problems.
