Question
Where is the air filter located on a 2001 V6 Passat?  Is it worth attempting to change myself (I have very little experience with auto maintenance) or should I take into a mechanic?  Thanks

Your air filter is located at the end of the air boot (big black hose) under the black square cover.  You should see two screws holding it down, remove them and the hose, lift off the cover and you should see the air filter. Wipe out the box once you've removed the old air filter, and then install the new one.
