Volkswagen Repair: sunroof, allen key, cmac

Hey Paul, my sunroof on my 1998 Passat 1.8T (89K Miles)will not close, and the dealership told my wife somthing was stripped in the mechansim proventing it from closing, and they would charge 249$ just to diagnose the prob. Do you have experience with this? Is there a manual crank somewhere in the car?

If you remove the interior light and take out the screw above it, the sunroof motor cover can be removed.You'll be able to close the sunroof if you move the black lever and then insert the allen key into the center gear.  Gently turn the allen key in either direction, and pulling gently on the sunroof will align the cables, and close the roof.
If you remove the fuse the sunroof will then be imobilized.
