1997 volkswagen cabrio 93000 miles has new distributor, new cap, new rotor, new plug wires.new ignition coil. manual transmission
The car is in time.
The car is getting spark from the ignition coil(also from ecu to ignition coil,including power stage)to the distributor cap but not out to the spark plugs. I bought a scan tool and no codes are logged.


any ideas?

NEW SPARK PLUGS? You've mentioned everything but new spark plugs.  Also make sure that you've installed the rotor properly and that that the resistor in the rotor hasn't blown. You should also check the spring loaded pin in the distributor cap, I've seen them missing on some new caps.

I also changed the cap and rotor even though they were fairly new with the new distributor. The spark plugs are not very old at all, and like I said there seems to be no power coming from the distributor to the spark plugs.
This problem did occur after getting the engine wet.

OK, I think you've got a problem with your new wires.  Are they the pin type?  Crank the engine over in the dark, and look for any stray sparks (blue).  And try disconnecting the coil wire from the distributor and check for spark.  Something doesn't make sense with this.
