Question - ANY ADDRESS OF DEALERS IN UK ?
I have a "strange" for Cyprus, car, a 1994  VW T4  synchro double cab, with engine AAB 2.4 Diesel 5 cylinder 57 KW. very well maintained. The cylinder head was eroded and replaced at 120.000KM , and the car was fine  but at 140.000KM because of the oil cooler casing erosion water got in the oil and vice versa. I replaced the oil cooler but after a few kilometes ( 100 KM or so ) the engine stalled having lost power gradually. I did not open up the engine yet , as the mechanics here are afraid of such "trouble" engines as they call them "cancer engines "  etc.
What are the statistics for these engines, and can one really repair such an engine or can I find a reconditioned at reasonable price ? WHERE ? VW dealer here, wants 7K STG  for a simple VW factory reconditioned engine !
I need this car as it fits my family with 4 kids, and my bussiness, and really I can not find a substitute in another brand !

Thanks Christos

Christos,

You're not going to like this, but I believe that the only engine worth buying is the factory reconditioned, with the factory warranty.  Too often rebuilders take on jobs that are not worth rebuilding.  VW scraps any cores that are damaged beyond repair.

Sorry,

Paul

Answer
Christos,

Sorry, never been to England, and it's so cloudy today in Toronto, Canada, that I can't even see halfway across the ocean.

Seriously, I haven't got a clue where you should start... you might try the local telephone directory?

Good Luck, and say Hi to everyone in the UK for me!

Cheerio, Paul
