Volkswagen Repair: 1987 golf wont start, fuel injection system, empty contents

Question
I was told over a year ago that the fuel injection system needed adjustment. Engine "bogs down"  accelerating from standstill and now won't start. There's gas in the tank and the engine turns over merrily with a good battery and starter.

Answer
Steve,
Start with the fuel filter, remove it and empty contents into a jar. If the fuel in the jar is not golden yellow
replace the filter.  Next check your air filter, then plugs, cap and rotor, etc.

Let me know if any of these looked dirty or wornout.

Good Luck,

Paul
