Volkswagen Repair: VW beetle, oil light, hook up

Question
i just bought a 2000 VW beetle GLX, and the oil light keeps coming on.  it will only flash for about 2 seconds and go right back off. i comes on when i am going less than 40 MPH.  if i am driving down the highway going 70, it never comes on, but when i get to town and have to stop a lot it comes on. a vw mechanic said it could be just a sensor since it doesn't stay on...the car also turns off quite often when i am driving through town...any suggestions?

thanks!!! Nikki

Answer
I am going to guess that it is a sesor as well, there inexpensive and tend to fail quite often on these cars.  You say though that the car is stalling?  Thats not very good, you should have a mechanic hook up his computer to tell you whats wrong with it, could be a simple problem.

Good Luck,
Ryan
