Volkswagen Repair: broken doorhandle, vw cabriolet, phillips screw

The drivers side door handle on my '92 VW Cabriolet broke off. I was able obtain a new unit, but was unsure as to the best way to replace it. I assume it involves removing the inside door panel, but am nervous about damaging something. What is the easiest(and safest)way?   Thanks so much for any advice!

Don't  gotta go there.  Look at the door edge above the latch you will see a large phillips screw.  Undo that one.  I don't know your handle but on mine there is a strip of chrome banding which with a small screwdriver you can pop out.  There is another phillips screw there.  Take  out. Then the handle slips out.
