Volvo Repair: 1999 Volvo s80 transmission lock-up solenoid., 1999 volvo s80, volvo s80

I work in a Ford dealership and ended up with an S80 that appears to be stuck in a higher gear on take-off. Managed to get a DTC P0050. I looked that up comparing it to Volvo transmission codes and a close match. From what I've reachered, the transmission is junk. Any repair will not last. Is this true? or will replacement of the solenoid correct the problem if the lock-up plates are not damaged?

If you I install software upgrade and replace sollenoid it can get rid off the problem but those transmission have lot problem in case it needs more after repair don't be suprised but replace the sollenoid and install transmission software update to clear some of those problem codes
