Volvo Repair: Oil Change Cause Massive exhaust smoke, exhaust smoke, synthetic oil

Question
I went to one of these quick oil change places.  I have a Volvo 2004 XC90 with 82, 000 miles.  I had an oil change and they put synthetic oil in it.  When I drove away, it started smoking really bad.  I went back, they drained the synthetic oil and then put regular oil in it.  Now the smoking has stopped but it smells weird.  What really happened?

Answer
Hello

it seems that they put wrong oil
(if the exhaust smoke was blue or massive white, it caused by oil
if the exhaust smoke was massive black, it caused by fuel)
if you give me complete chassis no of your car, I can give you recommended oil spec for your car
complete chassis no starts with YV1...

You can see it left lower side of the windscreen from the outside
