Volvo Repair: 1995 volvo 960, camshaft sensor, spark coils

Question
no spark. coils power up during key cycle. new crank sensor. good crank sensor and camshaft sensor patterns at ecu back probing.  timing belt in time. power stages not cycling igntion coils. no hertz on wires from ecu to power stages to control power stages. no power to coils after intial key cycle.

Answer
Awwww, this is more like it. A real question with testing done and everything! VBG
(good crank sensor and camshaft sensor patterns at ecu back probing.)but are they in time with each other? The synch is everything here.
(timing belt in time) Is it? Be really, really sure here. One tooth off will do it. The inputs HAVE to be time synchronized or no output will occur. If you have a dual trace lab scope, set up the waveform patterns to see if the synch. is right.
(coils power up during key cycle) This is telling me the ECU is capable of performing and is probably ok.
Is signal leaving the ECU and not reaching the coils, (test at ECU output pins) or is it not being generated at all?
Try not to think too hard about it. I suspect a timing belt issue here. Please let me know what you discover.
What's cool here is that you can actually diagnose a mechanical problem using the engine electronics. Neat-o!
