ANSWER: Yes, a generic OBDII scanner should work. OBDII is a universal language and all OBDII cars must adhere to it as mandated by federal law. NHTSA It will not however, give you the Volvo specific (proprietary) codes. AST makes one that will, but is 2k+ to purchase.
