Volvo Repair: Airbag Module, volvo s60, sensor modules

Question
The extent of my experience working on a vehicle would be changing the oil and putting in new bulbs but I'm dead set on removing the airbag module on my 2001 Volvo S60 and sending it out to be reprogrammed for $100 as opposed to the $570 just for the new module my dealership wants to charge me.  Airbags never deployed, warning light just came on.  Where is the airbag module under the hood and am I in over my head???

 Most were between the front seats under the console. That is, if you are talking about the ECU/Brain/Computer/Module, and not the squib or sensor modules?
  i caution you thogh, these are often misdiagnosed and not returnable. Be sure that's what it is before proceeding. Go here for more detail. www.alldata.com.
   The actual replacement is not that tough.
