Volvo Repair: Time to say good bye?, bozos, oil leak

Question
My 1990 740GL wagon just turned 200k miles. There's been a consistent, but slow, oil leak for the past two months, but it always runs great. I took it to a local mechanic (not Volvo experts, but who do good work) and they say the pistons are shot, that I'm getting blowby, and there's no point in putting any more money into the car. I'm tempted to take it to my Volvo mechanic to get a second opinion, since the first prognosis was determined after only having the car in their garage for 45 minutes. Is it time to say good bye or should I seek a second opinion? Could the car be as bad as they say it is, yet it still run fine?

Answer
Ray, take it to your Volvo guy, those bozos are blowing steam up well you know what Im talking about.  Volvos hardly ever have blowby and the pistons do make a slap noise after the car has been overheated.  There may be a clogged flametrap issue, etc.  This one still has plenty of life in it.  Keep this brick going.  Roger
