Volvo Repair: 1986 Volvo 740 non turbo standard, wiggle test, radio signals

Sir,
Car looses power.  Tach goes to "0" yet all electrical components continue to work, i.e. lights, radio, signals etc. I have replaced Dist Cap & rotor; fuel injectors; fuel pump and filters; wiring harness and battery all within the last year.  I even put gas in the tank!!  It still just dies and typically on a busy street.  If I wait 5-10 minutes it starts up and runs like new.  Help please

  Rich, you would not believe how often this is overlooked. By owners and technicians, so it made me laugh when you stated it."I even put gas in the tank!! It is NOT a stupid statement.
   You are having an intermittent problem with either the Hall sensor in the distributor.(Usually the wiring right at the base of the distrib. Look close and wiggle test while running) or the ignition module itself. About 50-50 for either.
