Volvo Repair: 1991 240 wagon, bulb failure, wire harnesses

Greetings!    I just replaced the rear tail gate wire harnesses .  I have electricity to the plate lights and tail lights.  I have no  stop lights,  and no back up lights! Questions:  1.   The back up light switch ,  do you think it's defective,   if so where is its location.    Question 2:  my stop lights ,  I just replaced the stop light switch ,  still no stop lights when I step on the brake.  Please advise,  regards,  Dom

Dom, check the fuse first.  Most likely its the bulb failure relay. Back up switch is on top of the transmission.  Is your shifter loose?  If so replace the bushings.  Have an assistant move the gear shift to see if the back up lights will flash a little when puttin it in gear,  Thats a quick test.  Roger
