Volvo Repair: Volvo V70, mass air flow sensor, 1998 volvo v70

Question
I have a 1998 Volvo V70 , when first started it revs to 3,000 rpm for a few seconds , then back to idle , and then starts running really rough like a manual choke on full , when driven it will do no mor than 25 mph , what gives ?? Please Help .

Answer
Anthony, a lot of things need to be checked. First make sure the incoming air tubes and filter are not blocked or cracked/split/holes. Make sure there are no vacuum leaks.(Most likely your problem and it's a big leak) Probably in the tube between the mass air flow sensor and the throttle body. Then make sure all electrical connectors are clean and tight. Then test the air mass sensor. This procedure should cover 90% of your bases.
