Volvo Repair: Volvo XC70 AWD 2.4L Turbo, mass air flow sensor, control arm bushings

I have a 2001 I have a 2001 Volvo XC70 AWD 2.4L Turbo with 115,000 miles. Just the other day the "check engine" light came on and after taking it to the Volvo dealer to diagnose the problem. They have given me the following list of things that are wrong and must be changed.

1. Mass air flow sensor repairable by the dealer for $382.00
2. Ignition coils and sparkplugs repairable by the dealer for $600.00
3. Pcv system positive ventilation system, breather box repairable by the dealer for $532.00
4. Timing belt repairable by the dealer for $790.00
5. Front shocks and spring seats repairable by the dealer for $845.00
6. Lower control arm bushings repairable by the dealer for $675.00
7. Right front motor lower mount repairable by the dealer for $250.00
8. Angle gear leaking repairable by the dealer for $622.00
9. Front transmission cover leaking repairable by the dealer for $685.00
10. Upper engine torque mount repairable by the dealer for $165.00

What does each of these pieces of equipment does?
Is it necessary to the engine, or to the emission system?
Which pieces can I replace at a later date without harming the operation of the car?

If I have to replace the parts, which one should I replaced? They dealer wants $5700 to perform the repairs Just the other day the "check engine" light came on and after taking it to the Volvo dealer to diagnose the problem.  JC, run as fast as you can away from there. All those items are common wear and failure items, but so many on one car on one visit? Hmmmmm...... try a different Dealer or an independant foreign specialist. A Volvo specialist would be ideal. A good one will address the check engine aspect of the repairs first and then help you prioritize the others if they do exist.
