Volvo Repair: V40 Wiper switch failure, switch failure, wiper switch

My '01 V40 wipers work only in intermittent mode, no continuous or fast speed, washer also not working. Seems like a bad stalk switch, how can I check? Your comments much appreciated.

Tony, you can check for power at the switch and see if you get power when you move the switch up and when you pull for the washer function.  Other than that, the car needs to be scanned to see if its a possible Central Electronic Module failure.  The s and v 40's have issues with the CEM.  If you wipers werent parking correctly, then its a definate CEM issue.  Roger
