Volvo Repair: 1990 760 Turbo Stalling, electrical portion, car fuel

Question
Roger,
I have a 1990 760 Turbo that as parked for over a year. Before parking it, it would routinely stall. It would restart after sitting for a while. Anyway, we jumped started it and it fired right up. We drove it approximately 30 miles on the hi-way. Pulled the battery and had a quick charge put on it, replaced the fuel filter and oil. It stalled the very next day once but restarted after a minute or two. I drove the car for about 30-45 minutes after this, stopping and turning it off once with no problems. I stopped at a C-store and it fired up but died when I pulled out into the street. I could no get it started after 2 hours and called a wrecker. I am also having problems with the key not turning. It worked fine when we picked up the car and then stranded me in the parts store.Had the wife bring the spare and still had no luck. We were about to leave in her car and I tried one last time and it fired up. I have been turning the key just far enough to turn off the radio and leaving it in the ignition. The car had an after market alarm, but I don't think that is the problem. Any advise would be greatly appreciated, along with a good mechanic in the area.

Thanks,

Answer
Daryl, where do you live?  I would start with a throtle cleaning but it may be a number of things.  Hard to say without looking at the car.  Fuel system relay and a speed sensor would be another place to look.  As far as the key, it sounds like the ignition lock itself or the electrical portion of the switch may be the culprit.  Roger
