Volvo Repair: 1997 850 GLT - 111k miles, fcp groton, nuts and bolts

Question
QUESTION: Hey Roger, the sedan is showing its age and I am desiring a quieter, smoother ride thus I am considering "investing" more $$$ in it on a front/rear parts suspension kit from FCP Groton. Do you think that I am safe using a reputable local shop that handles my Jeep to install? I take the 850 to indie Volvo shop for most things, but this "investment" would be a lot more $ there.

Thanks

ANSWER: Tim, Ive bought from them before, they have good stuff.  What are you trying to accomplish and what parts are you thinking of replacing?  Roger

QUESTION: L&R control arms w/ball joints,L&R outer Tie Rod Ends,L&R front strut assemblies,Rear L&R shock absorbers,L&R strut mounts w/bearings,L&R spring seats,L&R front dust boots,L&R strut bumpers, lock nuts and bolts for all.  The ride is horrible, I am hoping to get a smoother, tighter ride. I feel every little bump which makes everything rattle, clunk and bang. also, hoping this will prevent more critical parts from falling off etc.

Answer
Tim, that is all good stuff but my question is, what tires are you running? The 850 isnt the smoothest riding car but new rubber makes a lot of difference.  What are strut mounts with bearings?  The 850 has a strut cartridge and an upper strut cushion.  No bearings.  Roger
