Volvo Repair: 1992 240 tail light assembly, self tapping screws, unexpected surgery

Question
QUESTION: The right side tail light assembly will not work. There is no corosion, and the bulbs are good. The tail light nor the brakelight work.

ANSWER:    Terry, run a new ground wire from the chassis to the ground contact strip on the tailight assembly. Use a test light to locate it. A couple of self tapping screws should do nicely.

QUESTION: The radio on my 1992 240 is locked. I got the code from the dealership, but it still does not unlock it. Do you have a suggestion?

ANSWER:    Terry, are you sure you used the right procedure to unlock the radio? The only way to get a code is through the dealer. Give them the radio serial #. Try a different dealer/person next time. They do not always care enough to get it right when there is nothing in it for them. Know what I mean?

QUESTION: The volvo has begun to shut down as I drive. I think it may be the coil, because this did not begin until the weather got hot here in the south. It cuts off occasionally at stops, and sometimes going 60 down the highway. Your thoughts please.

Answer
I'm sorry it took so long to get back to you. I had an unexpected surgery and will be out a while.

Did you get the other problems fixed first?

You have to test/determine what you are losing when it stops. Spark or fuel. We can go further when you get me that answer. Otherwise the choices are infinite!
