Volvo Repair: Temperature gauge sending unit, volvo 740 gle, fuel gauge

Question
I have a 1987 Volvo 740 gle. Mileage 229,433 miles and still fabulous...  The temperature gauge and fuel gauge are not reading at all. They stay to the left. I read that if both are inaccurate it could be the wire is broken or the gauge is defective. Could this be a blown fuse? The gauge is not functioning or is it the wire? Also where is it located? The temperature gauge sending unit. I could not locate it on the car. Any help appreciated.

Answer
Colleen, In a word no.  Try this trick first.  Tap on the glass by the fuel gauge.  if it moves  then its a normal 700 series quirk.  As far as the temp gauge, do the same thing when the car is warmed up.  The gauge sender is on the cylinder head under the intake manifold.  A yellow wire  will be connected to it.  Some 700's have the 2 wire sender.  Let me know what you find.
