Volvo Repair: 2002 C 70 Convertible, hood latch, vise grips

Hood latch release inside the car has no tension on the cable. Hood will not release when lifting the handle. What are the options to gain access to the engine bay to release the hood latch?

Roger, this is a crappy situation.  Ive been able to remove the bolts on both sides of the locks and then you can open the hood.  Its best to have a lift but it can be done from underneath.  It sucks but it can work.  Another way is to remove the hood release from in the car and take it off the latch and just use the cable portion with a vise grips and see if there is enough cable to open the hood.  Id probably have a Volvo Shop help you if none of the above suggestions work.
