Volvo Repair: Volvo S60 Throttle, volvo s60, funky things

Hello,
I understand that Volvo extended the warranty on the throttle.  I have a 2001 S60 with under 70K mileage on it.  I took it into the local dealer shop and they are telling me that before they can do anything with the throttle, I needed to replace the alternator to include the software otherwise the car will not run - I drove it there while the car was running.  Is this correct?

  Kelly, there are some really funky things that interact sometimes that you would never suspect. BUT, I've never heard of anything that insane before. The systems are not related! Go to the Volvo site and look it up. It may take some navigating, but the info. is out there. HTH
